Pupil Premium

What is the Pupil Premium?

The Pupil Premium is additional funding allocated by the Government to support the education of children from low-income families who are eligible for Free School Meals (FSM), as well as those children who have been ‘Looked After’ in care, children adopted from care and those children from families with parents in the Armed Forces.

It is for schools to decide how the Pupil Premium funds should be spent, since they are best placed to assess the additional provision required to support the children in their care. However, they are held accountable for how effectively the Pupil Premium has been used and new measures included in performance tables capture the achievement of those disadvantaged pupils covered by the Pupil Premium.

In school, we carefully monitor and track the progress and achievement of all groups of pupils and have a robust system to identify underachievement. Where required, intervention is put in place to address any issues.

Catch Up Premium

In June 2020 the government announced £1 billion of funding to support children and young people to catch up on missed learning caused by coronavirus (COVID19). This is especially important for the most vulnerable pupils and pupils from disadvantaged backgrounds who we know have been most affected.
